Accessibility Statement — AVENUES Help
Last updated: September 26, 2026
Our Commitment
AVENUES is committed to making avenueshelp.org accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We are working to make our website conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, the standard widely used to measure accessibility under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Conformance Status
Our website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means that some content does not yet fully meet the standard. On September 26, 2026, 54 Design Group, LLC completed an independent technical accessibility audit of our website.
What We Found
The audit identified the following items, which we are correcting:
Some informative images on our homepage and our Regional Services and Assistance and Survivor Resources pages lack text descriptions.
The logo link in our website footer has no text for screen readers.
A light-teal color used for some headings, phone links, and Submit buttons does not have enough contrast against its background.
A few section titles on our Adair County Programs and Schuyler County Programs pages are formatted as bold text instead of headings, which makes them harder to find with a screen reader.
The supporter logos on our Website Supporters page are described by their file names instead of the organizations' names.
The Quick Exit button's spoken name and the homepage instructions for using it do not match the words shown on screen.
Some text on our Survivor Resources page is shown as a picture of text rather than real text.
The Back-to-Top button does not stand out enough from the page background to be easily seen.
An empty heading on our Donate to AVENUES page may confuse screen reader users.
What We Are Doing
We will correct the items above on our website by 10/26/2026.
We will complete keyboard and screen reader testing of our website by 10/26/2026 and update this statement the same day.
We will correct any issues found in that testing by 11/25/2026.
We are reviewing the PDF documents on our website and will provide accessible versions of forms and other documents people use to access our services.
Third-Party Services
Some services linked from our website, such as the PayPal donation page, are provided by outside vendors. We are working with these vendors to make their services accessible. If you have trouble using any of them, please contact us, and we will help you directly.

We welcome your feedback. If you have difficulty using any part of our website, need information in a different format, or want to report an accessibility problem, please contact us:

Technical Specifications
Our website is built on Squarespace 7.1. It relies on HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to work in your web browser and with any assistive technology you use. We evaluated accessibility with Axe DevTools Pro, PopeTech, and Screaming Frog, along with manual review. Keyboard and screen reader (NVDA) testing is scheduled as described above.
Formal Complaints
If you are not satisfied with our response to an accessibility concern, you may file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, at ada.gov.
Updates to This Statement
We will update this statement by 10/26/2026, after manual and screen reader testing is complete, and review it at least once a year.
